ARCA Announces Spring 2014 Schedule

Have you experienced enough of Winter? Are you looking for something to shake off those indoor blues and give you a sure sign that Spring is coming? A series of inspiring performances can surely be part of the cure! Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts (ARCA) will present familiar and new artists on the 2014 Spring performance schedule worth stepping out for.

Carnival of SoulsThis year, we get to enjoy a long St. Patrick’s Day weekend and you can kick it off with a return performance by an audience favorite, Carnival of Souls, led by Emlenton’s own Brian Lowry. This group of eight musicians, who have performed together for nearly twenty years, uses a wide variety of Irish traditional and non-traditional instruments that one could find in a pub in Dublin. Instead of traveling overseas, you can find them right down the road in Foxburg’s Lincoln Hall on Friday, March, 14 at 7:00 PM. Tickets: Adults $10, Students $5.

Chatham Baroque BioDid you know that much of popular music traces its roots back in time to none other than the well-known Johann Sebastian Bach? New to ARCA audiences is the nationally recognized and world traveled Chatham Baroque with a program entitled “Bach and Beyond”. This three-member ensemble performs on instruments of Bach’s period. Adding to the experience, they will speak about their instruments and the music to be performed during the concert. In honor of Bach’s birthday, enjoy a post-concert celebration with the artists and have a slice of cake with coffee! Lincoln Hall, Sunday, March 30 at 2:00 PM. Tickets: Adults $25, ARCA Members $20, Students $10

Tom Roberts RagtimeThe Ragtime era took America by storm, epitomized by the well-known Scott Joplin. One still hears the energy of this music on TV and in movie scores. The Allegheny City Ragtime Orchestra, led by Tom Roberts, makes its first appearance at Lincoln Hall on Saturday, April 12 at 7:00 PM. Tom has done extensive research on this popular form and has expertly arranged the music for this ensemble. He has designed a program that promises to inform as well as entertain. Tickets: Adults $25, ARCA Members $20, Students $10
