Premier Night Club Entertainer Dane Vannatter Premiers in Foxburg
Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts is pleased to present Dane Vannatter in a Cabaret performance at Lincoln Hall Saturday night May 11th beginning at 7:00 PM. An acclaimed night club entertainer Vannatter will be joined by a world class jazz trio in Alton Merrell on piano, Tony DePaolis, on bass and Tom Wendt on drums. Dane is the recipient of two Bistro Awards, for Outstanding Vocalist, and his CD “Flight” by the critics of BackStage in New York. Dane has been acclaimed by reviewers at The New York Post, The Boston Globe and BackStage for a style that “blends facets of cabaret and jazz with intelligence and care.” The Boston Globe remarks “Dane Vannatter’s distinctive style leaves an imprint on whatever music he sings. His voice has a floating quality that gets in your head and won’t leave….his music is a swinging, soaring adventure!” He has been nominated for 4 MAC awards and is a Nightlife Award finalist. Dane was featured at the annual Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention at Town Hall in Manhattan, and has performed in venues nationally and internationally. Dane’s 4th CD, Give Me Something Real is scheduled to be released in 2013.
He has performed in many of the right places in and around Pittsburgh. Past and present Pittsburgh venues include an appearance at First Fridays at the Frick, Frick Art & Historical Center – August 2010, joining the Pittsburgh Gospel Choir and August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble – at the August Wilson Center September 21, 2012 and being part of Heinz Hall’s Summer Courtyard Jazz Series 2012 He is a regular at Jazz at Andys, in the Fairmont Hotel downtown Pittsburgh, and at the James Street Gastropub & Speakeasy on the North Side.
Companion musician are like a who’s who of the Pittsburgh jazz and nightclub scene. Including Roger Humphries, Dwayne Dolphin, Alton Merrell, Ken Karsh, Dave Throckmorton, Max Leake, Tony DePaolis, Thomas Wendt, Daniel May, David Budway, David Crisci Mike Tomaro, and the list goes on.
One of his biggest music moments was in July 2012 when he sang “God Bless America” before a record crowd of 40,000 people in Fenway Park for the Red Sox vs. Yankees game.
